Designer-Like Jewelry for Less & Organization

IMG_5378.jpg

Like most woman, I too enjoy having a few nice pieces of jewelry in my armoire collection that are significant to me in a personal way. Whether it be for anniversaries, a personal celebration, or graduation I love collecting or investing in some higher end pieces that will last over time. It’s always the meaning of the jewelry that brings me back to whom gave it to me and why, that’s the most important.

I also know some days I love having a stack of bracelets that I don’t mind wearing out to work, errands, orm tossing in my bag while at the gym and not having to worry about what happens if they were to get lost or misplaced. I’m guilty of taking off my jewelry and putting it in a secret hiding spot for safe keeping to only realize, I forgot where I placed it. Anyone else do this? This is a habit I’ve inherited from my mom, but with some new ways of organizing my jewelry I’ve gotten better at staying organized and making sure everything has it’s place. Another important part of my jewelry is making sure I can see it! Sure, sometimes I use jewelry bags to keep certain pieces from tarnishing, but overall I like to see what it is I have when styling something together. I’m always in a rush, so having my pieces in a way I can view them is important to me. For this reason I put my costume casual jewelry in acrylic cosmetic drawers like these.

For this post I thought I’d share some of the affordable jewelry & accessories I’ve found from Amazon and The Styled Collection that are at generous price points and are a dupe for a more expensive version. Some I’ve had for a year and they do wear well as long as you take good care of them and don’t get them wet with water or soap. If you like the David Yurman style a lot of them have that braided wire look or a cuff design. I’m someone who likes to mix my nicer pieces with budget friendly finds and have no shame in that. If it looks great paired together, it works for me!

At the end of this post be sure to click through the widget for some great organization tools for storing and displaying jewelry. Whether it’s on your bed side table, a closet shelf, or in an armoire you need a way to keep those necklaces laying flat for travel. I’ve tried a ton of traveling jewelry cases over the years and go back to some of my original ones time after time that work well. I also love the acrylic drawers that are easy to see everything. I use these for jewelry and cosmetics storage. Find a system that works for you and stick with it! Is there a method you use that would recommend? Please share it with me!

Cozy as a Teddy

If there’s one piece in my closet from fall I’ve been able to wear into winter and dress up or down it’s this teddy bear jacket. I took a chance and ordered this for a little over sized look and also didn’t want to splurge on something that is just a seasonal fad. I finally found this one from Shein and the quality and warmth is ah-mazing ! I’ve received so many compliments on it and it’s so reasonably priced at $33 right now!

It also comes in a ton of colors, I went with the true copper teddy bear like color. It’s a golden brown. There’s a bunch of others at similar price points and styles on their site too. I’m 5’10” and this jacket was long in the arms and not too short in the waist. I don’t like anything that cuts into my torso so this length was great.

I also like this version that is a little longer and more of my usual style for a coat. My denim are an older pair with gold button details but I found some similar pairs that fit this look. I was laughing so hard during these photos because it was freezing up on our roof and super windy for photos but we went with it!  I love looking at the pool on the roof top across the way and still plotting my plan to make my way over there this summer... if summer ever makes it way to the east coast again.

Hope everyone is ready for the 3 day weekend! We’re doing a little weekend escape to D.C. to visit some family and have dinner planned at my favorite restaurant!

Axe Throwing in Brooklyn

IMG_1215.jpg

Yes, axe throwing! And believe it or not, it wasn’t my first time giving it a try. My brother in law manages Hatchets & Hops, Buffalo’s first axe throwing club. I’ve stopped in a few times to just watch and even throw. I just have to say how fun and entertaining the entire experience is! And it’s catching on! There’s more to be coming to the big Apple soon. It's definitely different and harder than expected, but if you're looking for a group date night or an adult birthday gathering this definitely checks a ton of boxes! We actually first discovered this spot when attending a friends 30th last winter and once we moved to Brooklyn we realized it’s so close to us now. I'm not "axepert" but happy to share the details. I recommend KickAxe Throwing in Brooklyn or Hatchets and Hops in Buffalo, NY. It’s a great indoor winter activity to plan with groups and there’s even a bar and snacks at most locations.

This night I just dressed casual, comfortable shoes are best but I’d be lieing if I said I’ve never thrown in heels 👠

Love the bright magenta of this oversized cardigan from Express and this is my go camisole top I know I'll be wearing into spring and summer again. It has adorable back detailing and also goes well under leather jackets and blazers. My necklace is from bauble bar and I also found two other great sale finds in the y style here and here.
