Happy Spring! Now that spring has officially sprung I'm kicking up my time at the gym and stepping up my athleisure ware. Living in the city makes it necessary to have pieces that can transition easily between errands and the gym without needing to or making time to commute home to change in between.

I usually go for more neutral pieces for working out in, maybe it's from my history of dancing in a black leotard since the age of 3 which I got used to :)  However, come summer I love a bright top and sneakers. So I've been updating some of my  activewear and investing in pieces that really wash and wear well.  I've found I can't live without my zella leggings, and the high waisted ones are SO good. Personally they're smoothing and hold you in without feeling restricted. I wear mine constantly and the quality stays. I wear them often not just to the gym too.  I've also been into this cropped top sports bra trend because I hate feeling restricted or having anything cling to me when I'm in a dance or pilates class. Then it's easy to throw a tank on over the top and jacket to transition into wherever I go to next. I've found so many unique styles at varying price points. The one I'm wearing above is from T.J. Max and was less than $20 and a great quality! My sneakers are the black and white pegasus style by Nike and I love the support and comfort they provide. I can wear them all day and they're perfect for running and lifting in. I even have a pink pair for summer that I bought twice because they're THAT good!

I've been rewearing this Nike sweatshirt lately because it's easy to throw on and is long enough for leggings. It's fit is a little oversized which works for my taller frame. It's on the pricier side, but I do wear it a ton. It also comes in a black fabric with white print I highly recommend.

My sunglasses are the tort/black print and can be found here.

Now here's to wishing the snow clears up from New York so it can actually start to feel like spring! I'll be sharing some other graphic print tees for the gym soon, so stay tuned on my shop-my-instagram tab or my colorsofcolleen instagram account.

🍀 St. Patty’s Casual with a Twist

I am in LOVE with this super comfortable and stylish twist back sweater. It's a sweatshirt material and had sold out recently so I found a similar one that I love just as much and have ordered. It's perfect because you can wear a regular bra with it and it would be great for a cooler beach day to throw on top of your swim top with denim cut offs. I've been looking forward to spring as this weather continues to play tricks on us New Yorkers.

I'm loving the boyfriend/girlfriend denim trend right now with distressing and there's so many options at different price points. I've been into Express's denim lately because the quality has gotten SO good AND I can order in a tall length so I don't have to worry about everything looking cropped. But hey- I'm so glad that trend is making it's comeback! My denim are actually an older pair that I can't give up. My slides are perfect for spring and sheek enough to dress up a bit without needing a heel.

Does anyone do anything to celebrate St. Patricks Day? As an Irish girl I do love to celebrate it and have the most non traditional Irish food impulse- I love to have a green bagel that morning for breakfast! I think I've been doing that since my dad used to grab em for me as a kid, since I was never a fan of the corn beef, potatoes, and carrots. Though I LOVE that , I can't handle the smell of  sauerkraut (the smell makes me sick)

However you celebrate in green, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Weekend in the Catskills

At the end of February my husband and I we adventured out of the city back to the Catskills for our annual friendski weekend with a group of friends I've known since grad school.  This year we used air b n b and also spent some time at Scribner's Catskill Lodge while the snowboarding peeps hit the slopes. This year we opted for a house with a hot tub and a cozy fireplace that we could relax at and cook in after a day out and about. This was a great balance for the avid winter spots friends and those who would rather relax with games and a cocktail someplace quaint by the fire.  (Yes, the later is me of course)

We spent some time at Scribners Catskill Lodge that's close to Hunter Mountain and enjoyed all it had to offer. Obviously someone managed to find me probably one of the only fashion books on the packed bookshelves. ha!  We had a delicious brunch and some group game time. The views from their patio are all the more inviting and I definitely would be open to returning. If you love Tahoe, you'll definitely love the vibe here. On the weekend we were there they had an indoor flea market of local vendors and a live DJ!. Definitely check it out if you're looking to escape the city for a weekend. It was the perfect way to kick back with friends and relax! I'm sharing all of my out fit details below. Definitely the time of year to score some great winter season pieces that are all marked down.
