Spring Florals in Central Park

Spring is finally in full bloom over here in NYC and I couldn’t be more excited! It seems like forever since my last blog post, but I’ve been busy over here with an art show I’m preparing for my students and I had the lovely surprise of my family visiting for my 30th Birthday recently. (Sigh)  For the longest time it felt like we’d never see spring, so when I was finally able to put away all sweaters for good.  I couldn’t wait to transition to spring and summer months!

Living on the UES makes Central Park so accessible and I try to take full advantage of it’s beauty.  There’s always something going on whether it’s a concert, summer movie night,  or Shakespeare in the Park I love being able to explore all of it’s different spots. The conservatory gardens make for a great spot for strolling and gorgeous photos!  There’s also a few favorite cafes and restaurants along the way there I’ll be sharing this season that are perfect for taking a break from the park for a quick bite or cool down drink with friends. Although my favorite is just having a picnic setup and now there’s ways to make a reservation for one to be setup for you upon arrival! No fuss or bringing anything with you.

Now with all of the spring blooms it’s also a crazy allergy season right now ! All of the trees were in full bloom the first warm weekend of the season and the park was unbelievably packed so I can’t wait until the school year ends so I can take advantage of it during the weekdays.

I snagged this cold shoulder top on sale recently and hadn’t paired red and pink together in a while, which is a new combo I’ve been into. This top has the perfect ruffle that falls on the chest and sleeve and could be paired with black pants for an office look with a blazer or even with shorts for something more casual. I try to keep versatility in mind when styling different pieces together.

What are your favorite places to adventure to in the spring ? I’d love to hear about them!

Blushing in Grey Look

Finally getting back into this little blog after a few months of debating how to best prioritize all that I juggle in this city that never sleeps. Or maybe, it's just me that's not sleeping with so much to do on never ending to do lists. I'm in the midst of wedding planning,  and as fun and exciting it is to picture our special day, the self planning of such a big soiré has honestly been overwhelming. August will be here soon enough and we can't wait to celebrate and let all the little stuff go.

So it's been a struggle to find the right balance, and coming back to what I'm passionate is what I need to fuel me for the long haul when the going gets tough.

In the fall my fiancé and I had taken a trip out to Long Island with my family. After a second visit we both knew upon entering the historical mansion on the Gold Coast of Long Island that this would be our spot. It felt like a home really, a place that we could see our friends and closest family gathering together, but with the right kind of gatsby feel. We spent the day exploring out of the city and ended it at a delicious spot on the water for some seafood and an unexpected sunset. We captured some little previews of our spot and the rest will have to stay a surprise.

This day was a little chillier and I love soft pastels so I slipped on this warm off the shoulder sweater and some mules. Mine are originally from the Dolce Vita for Target line, so I linked similar ones here. With my skin fair in the fall and winter I tend to gravitate toward more muted and neutral hues.

Chambray & Pink Ruffles

While exploring the infamous Caesar's Palace I wated to share this easy outfit I wore all day getting ready for the spring transition. Now if only New York weather will start cooperating full time! I have been wearing this chambray top non stop and just love the open split detail in the back! It's simple to layer with on cooler mornings by adding a tank under neath or buttoning it and tucking it into a skirt.

I've had my white skinny denim for a while and this pair from Paige denim wash well without stretching out. Hurry up and grab this feminine tank while it's still on sale over at Banana Republic. It runs a bit large so I sized down a size and love the feminine ruffles throughout.
