Baby Shower Maternity Dresses

babycake.JPG

Thought I would put together some of the dresses I had been eyeing for my gender neutral baby shower. Sadly with all of the progression with this coronavirus I’m hearing so many people are postponing, canceling, or figuring out creative alternatives to their planned baby showers. I’ve rounded up some dresses that I had checked out while preparing for my own. Stay positive mamas and stay safe most importantly!

Honestly, at first it was a little tough for which color I’d like to wear or if I should just go with a print, not to mention it would be in our cold hometown of Buffalo. I loved the idea of a long sleeve and longer dress for this reason. I ended up ordering a few that I’ve linked below to try on for options then will narrowed it down once I see how everything fits. I loved ASOS quick shipping & returns were super easy and so was Nordstrom with this. I like how Asos offers talls in materity wear so it’s been my go to for more casual pieces.

My mom, mother in law, and nana had planned everything with a surprise gender neutral theme so before the day I didn’t know much about what to expect. Looking back on it afterward, it was just perfect and I was a lot more at ease not knowing. I had already gotten used to this surprise element with choosing to not find out baby S’s sex.

I was just 34 weeks for the shower and while we were home we also took our maternity photos. I’m looking forward to using this platform to share those in the near future too. I’ll be doing a full post on our baby shower later this week, so stay tuned.

We’ve been getting everything cleaned out and organized to make room for baby S since he or she will be rooming in with us for the first few months. This last trimester is flying by and going slow all at the same time!

Now that there is more social distancing and everyone is staying in is anyone canceling or delaying their showers? What about a more virtual approach? I’m seeing a lot of registry companies are offering extensions on discounts and being very flexible. If you’re using Babylist they just issued a statement regarding extending discounts and other items for registries since stores are selling out of things like wipes and diapers. If you’re a soon to be mama you may want to look into these new procedures going into place or question further.

Hope everyone is staying healthy and making safe choices for themselves and loved ones during this uncertain time!

Holiday Card Photos 2018

IMG_0029.JPG

December is finally here and I cannot believe how fast it arrived ! We’ve been decking just about every corner of our new little space for the holiday season and it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! It’s fun decorating a new space and we wanted it to feel extra cozy. So I’ll be sharing the finishing touches on here soon.

Over the weekend Kevin and I had our wonderful friend stop by to help us with our idea for our holiday card. We’ve been sending one out every year since we moved to NYC and look forward to receiving all the mail this month from family & friends. I usually designate a little spot to hang the cards now that most are photos cards ! This year we knew we wanted to not just incorporate a holiday theme but also as a life update. At first I was going to do this right away, but then held off.

Kevin thinks we’re probably the last people on earth mailing holiday or new year cards, but I disagree! I look forward to coming up with what we’ll do each year. This year was a little more close to home, but in the past we’ve found some great spots around the city for our photos. This is ours from last year as we celebrated our first married Christmas!

This year the front of our card will be more traditional and the back is playful as our “we moved” announcement.

We created our photos through Shutterfly and I’ve been pleased with them in years passed and their shipping is free and arrives fast. They always have a great special going on and if you need a promo code, use this one for 50% off or a free 8x8” photo book! CODE: X4DU-A7Y8-R28G-KMCJGX. Minted is also another great spot for cards!

I’ve shared mine and Kevin’s outfit details in the widget below.

Hope everyone’s December is off to a great start!

Spring Florals in Central Park

Spring is finally in full bloom over here in NYC and I couldn’t be more excited! It seems like forever since my last blog post, but I’ve been busy over here with an art show I’m preparing for my students and I had the lovely surprise of my family visiting for my 30th Birthday recently. (Sigh)  For the longest time it felt like we’d never see spring, so when I was finally able to put away all sweaters for good.  I couldn’t wait to transition to spring and summer months!

Living on the UES makes Central Park so accessible and I try to take full advantage of it’s beauty.  There’s always something going on whether it’s a concert, summer movie night,  or Shakespeare in the Park I love being able to explore all of it’s different spots. The conservatory gardens make for a great spot for strolling and gorgeous photos!  There’s also a few favorite cafes and restaurants along the way there I’ll be sharing this season that are perfect for taking a break from the park for a quick bite or cool down drink with friends. Although my favorite is just having a picnic setup and now there’s ways to make a reservation for one to be setup for you upon arrival! No fuss or bringing anything with you.

Now with all of the spring blooms it’s also a crazy allergy season right now ! All of the trees were in full bloom the first warm weekend of the season and the park was unbelievably packed so I can’t wait until the school year ends so I can take advantage of it during the weekdays.

I snagged this cold shoulder top on sale recently and hadn’t paired red and pink together in a while, which is a new combo I’ve been into. This top has the perfect ruffle that falls on the chest and sleeve and could be paired with black pants for an office look with a blazer or even with shorts for something more casual. I try to keep versatility in mind when styling different pieces together.

What are your favorite places to adventure to in the spring ? I’d love to hear about them!
