February Bar Cart & Table Setting

Cheers friends! We finally made it to the month of February! It felt like January would never end and it’s always a dreary month in New York full of gray skies, snow, and cold weather. So glad spring will come earlier this 2020! Winters are never easy for me so I try to use February as an opportunity to engage in some self love and care spent hosting with friends or making our space feel a little festive. It’s become one of my favorite months because I know spring is right around the corner and my husband’s birthday is at the end of it.

After photographing this bar cart I realized I’m clearly channeling my indulgence for sweets these days, since I’ve been on a hiatus from the actual use of our bar cart. Although my husband has been able to mix me up some delicious mocktails. I’m thinking we need to create one with candy as a garnish!

If you haven’t tried the Malfy Gin collection it’s a must if you like gin. Each is made wihin the Amalfi Coast of Italy, one of our favorite regions. Each flavor, blood, orange, or grapefruit are all equally refreshing.

For this cart I kept everything more minimal than usual since we’re on full on nesting mode over here and I’ve been trying to declutter every square inch! Last year I transitioned the bar cart to more a hot chocolate stand. You can see my 2019 February bar cart post here. This year I combined some new and older pieces for both the bar cart and table scape and went with reds and pinks.

Fresh flowers are a must for me through these winter months and can bring so much life into a room especially during the darker winter months.

Thank you to the talented and creative Sarah of Eight Peonies who generously gave me these beauties. If you’re an upcoming bride looking for a floral/event designer or want a customized arrangement for Valentine’s Day definitely message her over on instagram. She’s been putting together stunning arrangements within our building that light up a room. Her entire feed is so uplifting!

Whether you’re planning on hosting a Galentine’s gathering or staying in with your significant other on Valentine’s Day it doesn’t take much to brighten up your space. I try to think of pieces I can use year to year when I decorate with a theme in mind so definitely recommend starting there.

I find most of my items from Target such as the garland, the heart string lights, and the mini chalk board. I always find great home decor at great prices at HomeGoods or TJMaxx or Hobby Lobby. That’s where I picked up the Valentine’s Day heart table napkins. The placemats are old from Target but these Opalhouse version are just as sweet too and super affordable.

Check out the widget below for some fresh updates to your space this February that won’t break the bank and will last across seasons.

Before baby Siskar arrives I’m soaking up all of the friend time I can. My friend is hosting a Galentine’s Night this weekend and I’ll be attending some NYFW events (as much as my swollen feet can handle). As I’m heading into week 32 it’s time to start taking it easy and check off the baby to do lists.

What are your plans for the month of February? Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day with friends or loved ones or prepare to pamper yourself? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Spring Bar Cart

Happy first day of spring! How I have been waiting for this day, since winter was taking more than 4 months to pass by! Thanks east coast 🙄I have been looking forward to having a major spring cleaning haul and updating our space with some new spring items. I realized I actually didn’t own much holiday decor for Easter, which is ironic because so many of the pastel colors that come with spring are totally my vibe!  I have been looking for small pieces that work within our space already that add an extra touch and trying not to go overboard. Space is of the essence here in NYC and I feel like I’m already overflowing ! I’m usually not into bunnies or chicks this time of year for Easter decor, but  I do love giving everything a light & clean refreshed feel for the spring season. We are getting so much more natural light and with daylight savings we’re enjoying it! Now I can’t wait until we can be back to summer grilling on the rooftop.

I’ve finally been able to keep my pitcher full of fresh flowers (thanks Trader Joe’s you had me at $6 bouquets)  I rotate them almost weekly and  they brighten up our space with a touch of color. I did grab a few home decor pieces at Marshall’s and Homegoods while on errands last week and tucked them on my bar cart for now. That’s where I found the adorable carrot cocktail napkins, and golden speckled eggs, and wooden bunny! I’ve been eyeing some pillow covers & fresh throws for spring. Etsy has some great pillow case options so I don’t have to invest in new pillows. Since our new couch came with two I have been covering them with pillow covers from pottery barn / Etsy.  Since it is our first spring here I’ve been careful about what pieces I want to keep out or rotate seasonally. I’ve been thinking of updating our  table tray / coffee table so searching for some new ideas and open to feedback! I believe it’s one thing at a time when in a new space,  but I am itching to have mostly everything finished. I still have photos to finish printing from our wedding on one of our walls.

I’m sharing all the details to my spring bar cart update in the widget and links below. My bar cart is easy to theme since it’s acrylic I found it here. I thought the string lights with spring garland were the perfect touch and they light up! I just had to get them for under $6 at Target.  Now it’s time for the weather on the east coast to start doing it’s part to feel like it outside, as much as I bring spring inside!

Hope everyone enjoys the spring bar car reveal. I made it clean & easy for now, but thinking of adding a banner or one near the window to welcome spring. As I update it more I would love to hear your comments and feedback!

February Bar Cart & Tabletop Setting

At the end of January it can feel like the winter is never ending. The cold weather in New York City this past week had me craving a getaway to some place warm ! This weekend we’re making a getaway to Seattle to visit my cousin and her husband. I’ve never been so looking forward to exploring and having some great food in good company. I’ve been beyond ready to say goodbye to the January blues and am looking forward to all the pops of red and pink that February brings!  I’ve been adding some little pops of red & pink to freshen up our space.

For this more Valentine’s themed bar cart I kept it winter related and just added a few extra hearts. I found the adorable backdrop from Target to create a temporary wall hanging, while I still figure out what to do with the white space over the cart. Anyone else have a hard time committing to what will hang on their walls to flow with the rest of the space? Commitment issues right there I guess!

I found many of the details at Target and TJMaxx, Homegoods, Kohl’s. I just grabbed a few things here or there to also add some love to our table setting. I’m still rearranging a few things but this pitcher is the perfect for year round. I also added the Valentine’s Day heart stems from Target with the eucalyptus ones and fresh flowers.. These are the most adorable placemats from the Opalhouse line at Target and they’re really affordable and washable. I don’t ever splurge on any holiday pieces but an artificial tree, and it all gets marked down end of season anyway. That’s the best time to snag a few pieces and save for the next year.

Linking everything in the widgets below with some other pieces that were too cute to not share.
