February Bar Cart & Table Setting

Cheers friends! We finally made it to the month of February! It felt like January would never end and it’s always a dreary month in New York full of gray skies, snow, and cold weather. So glad spring will come earlier this 2020! Winters are never easy for me so I try to use February as an opportunity to engage in some self love and care spent hosting with friends or making our space feel a little festive. It’s become one of my favorite months because I know spring is right around the corner and my husband’s birthday is at the end of it.

After photographing this bar cart I realized I’m clearly channeling my indulgence for sweets these days, since I’ve been on a hiatus from the actual use of our bar cart. Although my husband has been able to mix me up some delicious mocktails. I’m thinking we need to create one with candy as a garnish!

If you haven’t tried the Malfy Gin collection it’s a must if you like gin. Each is made wihin the Amalfi Coast of Italy, one of our favorite regions. Each flavor, blood, orange, or grapefruit are all equally refreshing.

For this cart I kept everything more minimal than usual since we’re on full on nesting mode over here and I’ve been trying to declutter every square inch! Last year I transitioned the bar cart to more a hot chocolate stand. You can see my 2019 February bar cart post here. This year I combined some new and older pieces for both the bar cart and table scape and went with reds and pinks.

Fresh flowers are a must for me through these winter months and can bring so much life into a room especially during the darker winter months.

Thank you to the talented and creative Sarah of Eight Peonies who generously gave me these beauties. If you’re an upcoming bride looking for a floral/event designer or want a customized arrangement for Valentine’s Day definitely message her over on instagram. She’s been putting together stunning arrangements within our building that light up a room. Her entire feed is so uplifting!

Whether you’re planning on hosting a Galentine’s gathering or staying in with your significant other on Valentine’s Day it doesn’t take much to brighten up your space. I try to think of pieces I can use year to year when I decorate with a theme in mind so definitely recommend starting there.

I find most of my items from Target such as the garland, the heart string lights, and the mini chalk board. I always find great home decor at great prices at HomeGoods or TJMaxx or Hobby Lobby. That’s where I picked up the Valentine’s Day heart table napkins. The placemats are old from Target but these Opalhouse version are just as sweet too and super affordable.

Check out the widget below for some fresh updates to your space this February that won’t break the bank and will last across seasons.

Before baby Siskar arrives I’m soaking up all of the friend time I can. My friend is hosting a Galentine’s Night this weekend and I’ll be attending some NYFW events (as much as my swollen feet can handle). As I’m heading into week 32 it’s time to start taking it easy and check off the baby to do lists.

What are your plans for the month of February? Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day with friends or loved ones or prepare to pamper yourself? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

Bar Cart & Table Top Setting Details

Jingle Bell Stir Sticks // Sugar Paper Company has the most adorable holiday decor and bar cart finishes at Target each holiday season. I grabbed these adorable bell stir sticks for cocktails to place on my holiday bar cart and love that they’re a real jingle bell!

Gold Bow Napkin Rings // I also picked up these gold bow napkin rings from Sugar Paper Co. that could be used year round. I have a lot of accents with gold throughout our space so these were the perfect touch for the plaid napkins I put together for our table setting.

These place card holders would also be perfect for a more formal gathering and are match with the cocktail stir sticks!

Marble Coasters// These are a favorite of mine that also make a great hostess gift.

Mini Tree 🌲 Target they come in 3 different sizes small fits perfect into the mugs and I did this as a gift for a few friends this year. Now is the time to stock up and they’re great for thin fireplace mantles or window sills.

Bottle Brush Trees// pink one was old from Target dollar section and the green and white ombré is Pier One.

Ceramic House// I love these ! Perfect for winter vignettes and glow with a tea light inside. All of mine are from Target but Michaels and Hobby Lobby also sell similar.

My mug is old from Anthropologie but this year I found a cute plaid print mug I gifted from Pottery Barn. They’re marked down to $5 right now!

Home Decor for the Holidays

This is a super long post but I’ve rounded up so many items that are marked down for end of the season and could easily be used next year or saved for gifts!

I often will use Bath and Body Works as my go to for candles to make the place smell festive along with hand soaps. Lately I’ve been finding some of my favorite home candles from TjMaxx or Marshalls. This is also where I found so much of my holiday decor like the reindeer stocking holders, stockings, trees. A lot of the terrariums I use on my window sill and shelves are from Hobby Lobby.

I had shared some of my favorite home decor pieces in this blog post. I had grabbed a few neutral pillows for winter from Pottery Barn & the golden snow flake one is from Michaels. Target also has this cute option. I usually opt for pillow covers that way I can interchange between seasons and not have to store a bunch of plush pillows. I found mine at Pottery Barn on sale.

Right now is the best time to snag any holiday decorations since much of it is on clearance!

Target has up to 70% off and Homegoods / TjMaxx also has 50% off all holiday too. I usually stock up on wrapping paper, gift bags, and house warming gifts. Other great finds on sale are the ornament and wreath storage boxes to store it all away.

I usually leave most of our decor up through the new year since we travel over the holiday and want to enjoy it for a few more days.  My favorite piece is our monogrammed mirror friends designed for us from our wedding. I love how it fit seamlessly into the space and is so personal to us!

Stocking Holders & Stockings// TJMaxx Then I found this silver style on sale at Pier 1! Perfect gift for newly weds or new home owners for next season too.

Our Tree’s ribbon is from Shop Hello Holidays and it is the best quality! I had heard another blogger, Emily Ann Gemma rave about it so I caved and got some of the rolls on sale. They sell out quick but I know I’ll have it for years and it really adds a great touch to the tree!

Each year Kevin and me go to the Bryant Park Holiday Market shops and pick out an ornament to customize together. Since this year we’re in our new place we had to get a front door ornament. I love this tradition we’ve done for over 7 years now!

Barefoot Dreams Throw Blanket  Super cozy and soft a favorite of mine and any guest that visits us! Makes a great house warming gift, along with the marble coasters.

Fur Throw / a heavier one that is so soft on each side from Pottery Barn. It washes and wears so well and is on major sale!

Table Tray / Homegoods (old) loving this option too

Holiday Home Decorating Inspo

IMG_0995.JPEG

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we’ve just bid farewell to Halloween and turned the clocks back. Yay for extra sleep and brighter mornings, but I cannot stand how early it gets dark! I ran some errands this weekend and of course it’s next to impossible to get out of Target for under $50 when I only needed a few household items. My self control is never good there!

I was giddy like a child to see the holiday section filled with so many decorations. I took a walk through to get some inspo. I couldn’t help but pickup a few little pieces to get me set on holiday decorating. I’m going to try and get a head start on it this year since we’ll be traveling for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and have a friend coming to visit next weekend. November is sure to fly by!

How adorable is this little ceramic house and tree?! It comes in white, silver, gold, and a variety of sizes. I love candle light and the houses will glow with some tea lights in them. Sugar Paper always has dainty details for entertaining and these gold ribbon napkin holders are perfect to go with our gold chargers. I couldn’t find them on their website but I did see them in store. I stopped into Bath & Body and they were having a $4 a candle sale so grabbed one to save for December. They would also make great gifts too! The deal is only on for today so if you want one of their single wick candles for gifting now is the time or Black Friday.

I’m looking forward to finding some new ways to decorate our new place and enjoy it before it’s time to travel and holiday shop. This way I can share some of my favorite finds with all of you before they sell out (and I can persuade my husband to help me with the tree before he travels again for work.) I mean if Starbucks has started with their holiday cups then it’s not too early to deck the halls right?

Since our place already has accents of gold throughout I’m going to keep with that and then add some pops of red and ivory. Many of our decorations we’ve had for a quite some time and some of it has really lasted if I invested in it and other pieces I’m ready to toss and refresh. And I can’t handle the mess of glitter so anything with that has got to go! I’m thinking of finding a piece of garland for our window sill that I usually place some decorations on.

We usually purchase a real tree and have cut it down ourselves upstate near our parents homes and drive it back down to NYC (really, we’re crazy!) But we always loved getting to grab our tree as a family after Thanksgiving just in time to head back to the city. Though last year it didn’t happen and we decided to opt for the artificial for sake of easier setup and clean up. So as much as I miss the fresh smell and experience I’ll supplement for a real wreath instead. Tree isn’t up quite yet, still debating which space to set it up in but I’ll probably move on that after next weekend.

I’ve listed some of my favorite holiday finds for decorating below and linked out to the ceramic pieces from Target. I’ve also spotted some great items at Homegoods, Pier 1, Nordstrom Rack, and Michaels. Michael’s always has so many great deals so I placed an order with a coupon code for some sprigs for the tree and ordered some ribbon from another great retailer on ebay.

Ceramic Houses White version and Gold Version

Ceramic Tree White version I swear I got the little green one in my photo from Target. It’s $3, but I just can’t locate it on their site. It’s in the Wondershop section by Birchwood Bay Decor if you check in store.

Sugar Paper Napkin Rings (having trouble finding on site but are in store)

Happy Holidays Napkins

Marble Gold Trim Coasters (Homegoods old) similar here and holiday version

Balsam Candle
